Matthew Roach Named Associate Head of School
A beloved teacher and coach rises to lead.
Matthew Roach will become Peddie’s next associate head of school, effective July 1. Roach has been a cornerstone of the Peddie community since 2009, serving as an English teacher, varsity girls soccer coach, student advisor, dorm faculty member, English department chair, and, most recently, director of teaching and learning. He was named the 2025 Trentonian All-Prep Girls Soccer Coach of the Year. “Matt brings deep experience and commitment to Peddie, and his classroom instruction and academic leadership are superb,” said Head of School Jim Hamilton.
In his new role, Roach will oversee the academic program, including faculty hiring and development. He holds a degree from Williams College, Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English and Columbia University’s Teachers College.
