Greetings from campus! This is a moment of beginning anew, both for Peddie and for me. As I begin my tenure as head of school, I feel both incredible gratitude and awesome responsibility. Gratitude for the generations who have built this community, and responsibility to lead us into the future in a way that fulfills all of our hopes for the school. Our motto, “We finish our labors to begin them anew,” reminds us that every chapter builds on the last, and each new beginning carries both promise and purpose.
It has been a remarkable fall here in Hightstown. I am continuously inspired by the talent and depth of our community. Our professional community is as dedicated as ever, and they work with a diverse, smart and talented group of students from across the country and all over the world. The spirit of Peddie was at its peak during Peddie–Blair Week, which was a highlight for me.
Personally, my family and I have loved our move to Hights-town and all that Central Jersey (it is a place) has to offer. My wife, Lucy, and I are grateful for the warm welcome and for all the great restaurant recommendations.
I have appreciated the chance to visit Long Beach Island, Sea Bright, Dallas, Boston and New York City on the Peddie World Tour. Those gatherings confirmed for me how deeply our alumni and current and past parents care for Peddie. We also welcomed prospective families, who no doubt left those gatherings full of the Ala Viva spirit. I look forward to many more events this winter.
This issue of the Chronicle captures the spirit of our motto. The cover feature shares my arrival at Peddie through conversation, a “day in the life” photo story and the Installation ceremony. It is less about me than about the community I have joined, and about the vision we will shape together.
You will also see the lasting power of the classroom in “The Classes That Never Leave You,” where alumni reflect on the courses that challenged them, changed them and stayed with them long after graduation. Teaching and learning remain at the core of Peddie’s mission.
Finally, the Chronicle itself begins anew with a bold redesign, its first since 2017. Its new look reflects the energy of this community, and its stories continue to point to where we are headed: honoring our history, embracing innovation and committing ourselves to the future of our students.
I invite you to join me in shaping this new era for Peddie, with your voice, your presence and your support.
Ala Viva!
